About

I grew up with a fascination with cameras. I credit my dad for this; he used to shoot with an old Pentax SLR. I started taking pictures as a child, often begging my dad to let me use his camera. Photography was one of the things my dad and I enjoyed together. Eventually, when digital SLRs became cheaper I started shooting with a Canon 10D.

Photography allowed me a vehicle to be creative. It was my artistic outlet. I had to put the camera down when I started medical school and subsequently residency. Now, I am trying to re-discover my artistic and creative side and picking up the camera more and more.

For a long time the subjects of my pictures were landscapes, scenery, and the people I took were candids. Recently, though, I discovered that I enjoy shooting people in a more intentional manner. In many ways it is very different than what I am used to doing. It has been fun learning the nuances of lighting and posing.
